THOUSAND VILLAGES
TEN THOUSAND VILLAGES is a non-profit organization which provides vital, fair income to Third World people by marketing their handicrafts and telling their stories to North America. Since 1946, Ten Thousand Villages has supported the work of artisans in over 30 countries in Asia, Africa, Latin America and the Middle East. As a founding member of the International Fair Trade Association, they purchase fine pieces from craftspeople and market them in North American, providing artisans who would otherwise be unemployed or underemployed with income to help pay for food, education, health care and housing. The vision of Ten Thousand villages is that “One day all artisans in the developing countries will earn a fair wage, be treated with dignity and respect and be able to live a life of quality”. In 2007, Glen Avon hosted our second annual “Ten Thousand Villages Festival Sale” beginning during the fellowship time following church on Sunday, November 18 and continuing through Sunday, December 9. If you would like any more information regarding the sale or about Ten Thousand Villages, please contact Rachel Ostrander. Thank you.
